Winix WAC5500 Air Cleaner
I purchased this today at Fry's Electronics for $199, but really wanted a 5300 model, which they were out of as it is being discontinued. Later I found 5300 model could be purchased at Walgreens for $149. The only difference between the two as far as I can see is that there is a washable filter in the 5500, which might save me some money in the long run. My home showed "green" but I put it on the top speed to clear out the air anyway. It is loud at that speed, but very quiet at first 2 speeds. Later I will like the auto mode which switches to whatever the sensor thinks the fan should be on according to air quality. It is nice looking. I can't say much now but it seems a little overpriced to me. I did not buy the extended warranty and hope nothing goes wrong as it only has a 1 year warranty. You still must replace the carbon filters every 3 months. Besides the one in the unit they give you 3 more carbon filters so this should last a year but maybe more if I vacuum it. The...

Detects and Cleans OUT-GASSING FROM PLASTICS etc
I did not buy this from Amazon because they were charging $199 and here in Texas Amazon has to charge 6.25% sales tax. I bought this one on Ebay for $185 free shipping.

WAC5300 $159 vs WAC5500 $199. I have 2 WAC5300's and 1 WAC5500.

WAC5500
1) This model does come with a remote. The remote is very useful turning it on and changing fan speeds. It is the only way to turn off the plasma wave.
2) Washable Hepa filter. I have serious doubts that you can effectively wash a Hepa filter. There are no instructions for cleaning it either.
3) External color
4) On fan speed #2 this unit (5500) is quieter

I have had this air purifier for 2 months now. It works great for us. I use it mostly on the 2nd lowest speed #2. The air in the bedroom where I use this one is always very fresh now. This model is a little quieter than the 5300. Both my 5300's you can hear the motor making a faint whining sound on speed #2 only. The 5500 does not make this...

Fluoride free water
Installation is easy. Takes up a little more space than I would like.
Number one recommendation I have is to run the water until the metal taste is gone. It took a few days to get that out. Now it is wonderful. Highly recommend.

SEBO Essential G1
I have owned this vacuum for 6 years, after turning in a Kenmore upright that was a piece of heavy junk I had owned for 2 years. I purchased the vacuum at a local store, and can either get filters and bags there, or on line. No problem! I went on a cruise to Bermuda from NY 2 years ago and I saw the ship cleaning crew using the exact same vacuum. It is really light weight, never ever clogs and is powerful, and will not tear up rugs or hurt utility cords when you clean over them. I had a RICCAR for 12 years, prior to the Kenmore, and thought it was the best vacuum, but this beats even the RICCAR.

This is a fantastic hoover which tackles pet fur with ease. Not too heavy to push around. Only negative is trying to get spares ie filters for this machine. I'm still looking unsuccessfully!Anyone have any ideas. I have contacted Sebo and they said they didn't know this model.

reverse osmosis is the way to go
even though we are told our local water is safe to use, we want the best for our peace of mind. My son replaced the filters which the previous owner had never replaced. Just iron residue that we could see, but what else that we could not. My son was careful to follow the directions and had no problem.

This one looks like it will hold up
We'd switched to a Breville BKC700XL Gourmet Single-Serve Coffeemaker with Iced-Beverage Function (which I was fortunate to review for Amazon Vine) because it seems like every drip coffee maker we buy quits on us within a few months. But we just can't afford the K-cups, and using our own coffee with the My K-cup setup has been really messy and time-consuming. (Don't get me wrong: I love coffee made with the Breville, but sometimes you just want decent coffee fast and lots of it. There's a little more bitterness with a drip maker than with K-cups, but that just makes the coffee seem stronger.)

Water Filters Can Be Found Elsewhere
Great looking coffee maker, and the brews taste good, too. For those of you wondering about replacement water filters, which appear to be unobtainable, the Cuisinart charcoal filters Cuisinart DCC-RWF *Triple Pack* Charcoal Water Filters; 1 Year Supply (6 total) are the same shape and size as the one that comes with the Frigidaire coffee maker. I just bought the coffee maker so I haven't used the replacement filters yet, but I ordered the Cuisinarts and compared them in-person, and they appear to be identical.
Solid coffee maker, carafe drips, could have come with grinder.
This is one of the nicer coffee makers I've used. I had given up drinking drip coffee and was using the French Press, however, this coffee maker extracts good flavor from coffee.
The things I liked:
- Auto feature - Nothing like getting your coffee made by itself in the morning
- Coffee Strength - Strong or Regular can be selected which helps extract more flavor from coffee on Strong setting

No Instructions included
I purchased my original four-filter SS AquaRain gravity water purifier in 2001 and have been using it ever since to produce drinking water, using only our high quality city aquifer water as the source. Unfortunately the officials have contaminated the water with the forced addition of the poison fluoride, to render it into a forced mass medication of less than dubious value. I was told the filters may help remove the fluoride. After over 10 years use the output water was becoming cloudy, so I wanted to replace the filters. The new filters, although being 7.5" long, were 1.5" shorter than the originals but had the exact same U.S. Patent number along with "Marathen Ceramics". Two negatives to report. 1. The single-paper note enclosed said "Important! DO NOT overtighten wing nuts!!! Please read instructions before assembling filter. Broken elements are NOT COVERED by the warranty." However, there were no other instructions nor paper(s) included inside the delivery box...

*NOT* AquaRain
These are significantly shorter than real AquaRain filter elements (about 2" or 50mm shorter) so less total surface area equals longer filtering time. The water does not taste nearly as clean either so I doubt the charcoal (if there is any) is not of the same density/quality as authentic AquaRain filter cartridges. Furthermore, the misleading advertisement along with the seller's lack of communication makes me wonder if the elements contain biostatic silver like true AquaRain filters which would be a tremendous safety issue if tainted water were used in the filter. If the buyer is only trying to save money, like I (foolishly) did these are an okay value. If you are looking for high quality replacement elements producing safe/clean water, buy elsewhere.

Excellent Water Ionizer
Ordered KYK Harmony Home Water Filter and Ionizer. Received an email that day stating the product is on back-order for two weeks. The seller Water for Life USA stated that they will upgrade the order to the KYK Genesis water ionizer for free (this system has better filtration and ionization, more features)if I wanted. One powerful ozone generator
Difficult to review because the effects of its "ionic" cleansing are hard to measure. But, of all the air purifiers I have encountered, this one really can produce the Ozone. So much so, you will find yourself running it on low range.

Technically, this unit produces ozone by impinging UV light onto a rare metal surface. It is very effective. Ozone is a molecular variant of oxygen and is highly reactive chemically. So, ozone is good for killing germs, mold spores, etc. On its highest settings, this unit can produce more ozone than you want to breath or subject pets to.

The unit is very small (8 inch cube) which makes it nice to easily move from room to room. It is quiet in operation. On low settings, the ozone produced does not appear to affect either people or pets.

Tasty, leaky water.
This guy leaks. This is my second try with this model, thinking that maybe the first was a fluke. Unfortunately, the second did the exact same thing as the first: started leaking, then spraying water out of a crack that magically appeared in the area of the indicator window.

I do like the filter, the water tastes pretty good and the flow rate is good. It's just the getting sprayed in the face while using it that bothers me. I will be trying one without the indicator window next, which is unfortunate. It's a handy feature.

Simple design
I had to order this on line and pay more than I should, but local stores (100 miles) refuse to carry the product. They are trying to force other similar items on us. This one makes for a one handed operation while the newer versions require switching hands between turning the water on and then turning the filter on.

I can tell a difference.
We've been using this device for over 2 years now and it does make a difference in the water. We live in a nice suburb with city water that is relatively good in quality. I never noticed it before, but since we started using the filter, I can smell the chlorine and other chemicals in the sink tap water compared to my shower. My wife has very sensitive skin and decided to try this. We have not seen noticeable improvement, but hope it has helped her skin condition and improved our overall health. If I had concrete results, I would have given it 5 stars.

Warning: Deceptive product description, No HEPA, Yes Ionizer
I reviewed dozens of air purifiers in the search for the best, low-price one with a HEPA filter that did not use Ionizing technology (which appears to be especially risky for people with asthma). I purchased the Honeywell HFD-110 Quietclean Tower thinking I had found the perfect match...

...that is until the package arrived and the fine print on the box said that this was a "HEPA-Type" filter (ie. NOT a HEPA filter, which means not certified to the high standard of a HEPA filter). When you look at the filter up close it looks nothing like the HEPA filters I have seen (not dense at all, quite the opposite).

To make matters worse the HFD-110 IS an Ionizing air purifier (and you cannot turn this feature off), contrary to the Manufacturer's Description which would have you believe otherwise, "Compared to ionic air purifiers, the filter from the HFD-110 captures 12 times more pollutants..."

Look, I think this would otherwise be a decent Ionizing,...

Ionizer
My bf and I bought this air filter specifically for the fact we both have asthma and wanted a nice air filter that not only cleaned the air, but would not create ozone. No where in the reviews did it say that it was an ionizer so we bought it. We had it on for one night, it did a great job cleaning the air and was quiet but when I went to go break down the packaging, I noticed teeny tiny print on the bottom of the box that said: warning: includes ionizer that produces ozone. do not use if you have asthma.

We were both quite upset that we didn't see this warning on Amazon before we bought it. Had to return it! False advertising!
Excellent
This is an excellent air purifier. It can also be used as a fan, which I use it to sleep at night. It is very quiet except on high setting. But what fan isn't noisy on the high setting? I cleaned the filter by running water through it under the sink. It had a collected a nice bit of dust that would have otherwise entered my lungs.
