Excellent Water Ionizer
Ordered KYK Harmony Home Water Filter and Ionizer. Received an email that day stating the product is on back-order for two weeks. The seller Water for Life USA stated that they will upgrade the order to the KYK Genesis water ionizer for free (this system has better filtration and ionization, more features)if I wanted. excellent design with 3 clear filter housings - 12 gal shows the gunk in city water
General construction notes: The filter housings are standard 10" with CLEAR caps on all 3 positions (not just the first = dirtiest position) - they are screwed to a metal (remember that stuff?) housing to hold the unit together. The tank is a standard RO "bladder" style tank and the membrane is mounted above, horizontally along with the uv lamp and the refrigerator style taste finishing filter which is the last item the water goes to before the faucet / ice maker. I find that this build quality is superior to other RO systems on the market which use subsized filters resulting in faster filter changeouts and or mount the RO membrane vertically after only one filter (this RO membrane sees 3 filters and one pressure boost pump between it and city water which should make the membrane last longer)

at my home, My feedwater is measuring about 300 ppm with the HM Digital DL-1 Dual TDS Meter...

check the connections
I had a plumber install the unit and was very glad that I did because there were some leaks that I would not have known how to fix. He had to trim the ends of the tubing and reinsert them into the fittings because a few of the connections leaked. The ends of the tubing were not cleanly trimmed. Also, the fittings are plastic and you have to be really careful not to overtighten them -- which would have been my inclination to fix the leaks. Overall, it is a good RO/UV system for a reasonable price.
Great tasting water!
I received the package promptly but as soon as i opened it I realized I was missing parts. I called the customer service and they were very polite and sent the missing bag of parts out right away. Good customer service! Once the unit was hooked up and the first tank of water drained we tried the water and were very happy. We normally get our water from our Cupboard natural foods store but it gets old toting the 5 gallon jugs around. The water tastes just like the water out of the oversized R.O. unit at the cupboard. All parts are made well and I especially like that all the housings are clear. Why shouldn't you get to see the shape of the filter before removing/ contaminating them?The permeate pump does make some noise and the first half glass of water is a bit warm from sitting under the UV light, but other than that we are 100% happy with the purchase. They also label all the connections to make setup easy. Even the pets love it :p

Best RO system I've used
I've now been using this RO system for 6 month to produce the basis of my aquarium water brew (50 gallons/week) and it's great. Unlike two other systems I've used over the years, this one comes instrumented! With 5 separate measuring sensors, you not only know the quality of the input and output, but also know when it's time to chance each of the 5 replaceable cartridges. Also, my brown algae problem has been solved with the included "Silica-Buster" cartridge of this model. The only negative is that the RO membrane flushing kit must be separately purchased and user installed.

Great Filter
This filter has revolutionized my reef maintenance. Having 4 sample points for water quality from the included TDS sensors is remarkable. Water production with 40-60PSI is sufficient for my weekly 50 gallon water changes and daily top off.

So far so good
Just received and installed this item today. This model filters fluoride and tons of other stuff. Hooked up easily. So far so good! The water actually really does taste different than out of the Brita filter I have. It's hard to describe but I think the brita water tastes less balanced and more chemical. I rinse my teeth with fluoride every night and floss, that's enough fluoride for me! Brittle bones, no thank you. I'll update this review in a few months if I remember.

Great and Essential Product
I have had this system in my house for 2 years. It funtions perfectly and as promised.

In response to other reveiwers, why in the world would this filter add any taste to the water!!! It makes no sense at all and is proven wrong by my experience.

My water tastes great and I sleep better at night knowing that I have removed this poison from my children's water.

Chemical Taste and Rude Service
I added another carbon filter to this Crystal Quest filter, but there is still a strong chemical taste. They use mechanical and chemical filtering systems to remove contaminants; but the result tastes worse than the original tap water. Service was RUDE. However, the first woman (a new employee) confessed that other customers complained about a chemical taste; but others in the company staunchly denied any problems with any customers - very deceptive! I encouraged the company to check and improve their filters, but they continued to deny any problems and refused to improve. What was that chemical taste? I will never know, but I will never taste it again! Why put more chemicals in your water?!

Exactly what I was looking for
This is a 3 stage filter with an RO membrane that is spec'd out to work with your standard tap's pressure; no booster needed. Not needing the booster saves money and eases installation but it does impact the maximum daily throughput. With that said, it's a light duty, but you get good quality RO water. With the included reservoir it definitely produces enough volume for an average household's daily drinking needs, but you aren't going to be able to shower in it ;)

If I need to take water with me I'll leave a 3gallon container under the opened tap over night and in the morning it's nearly full. It reduces the many industrial wastes that end up in our water supply on accident and even those that are added on purpose, like fluoride, so it serves it's purpose well.

Great, but expensive system
We had our coffee equipment installed 3 years ago and the installer put this filter on each piece of our coffee equipement. It's a great filter system...the caddilac of filter systems, but the replacement filter cartridges are expensive (comparativly speaking) to and not very easy to find.

This is my 2nd, the first lasted 15 years
The filter is excellent and so is there service. Either I, or they, made a mistake and sent
the under-the-sink model. I called them and they instantly mailed out the counter-top model.
Had I not returned the first filter, they would have charged me, but I was very impressed
with their service. I seldom need to replace the internal filter, it cleans well & last a long time.

works good
Only down side is to be totally safe you need an active carbon filter to remove chlorinines, Package states out of the box it will only "reduce chlorimines" and once installed with one tds goes back up. I run a small boy unit infront of with prefilter to not clog RO membrane so fast, and carbon, than this unit and take 1200 ppm tds to zero.

Warning as with all RO units you'll waste alot of water. You'll think you have it hooked up backwards becouse the good water output trickles so slow you can fill a cup faster by spitting while the waste water side runs like a regular 1/4" ice maker line at full pressure. You'll have to have a resevoir and flot valve.
Don't think this is any diffrent than any other RO system out there though.

For the monney theres no better system than this and a small boy combined with it.
If your municiplaity dosen't use chlorimines you can skip the small boy.

I am very pleased to have used this as part of overhauling my point-of-use RO DI drinking water.

I had never recharged the resin or even the RO membrane IN 5 YEARS!!!!! Oooops. My TDS was 336 ppm. Compared to my tap water - it was identical. I am ashamed of myself. I vowed to never go longer than a year between resin changes. We only use about two gallons a day on this unit.

So, new bank of pre-filters, new RO membrane, and new DI resin. My TDS is back down into the single digits. Oh, and the water tastes like - nothing. It is just pure, clean, refreshing water. With 5 lbs, I should be able to fill my (very large) resin container at least three times.

I would suggest to my seller (CFS): I understand you are buying this in bulk from ResinTech and repackaging it in smaller quantity for people like me...

Works good. Lowered TDS to 0, Cl/Br to 0, hardness and alkalinity to 0. Leaves a bit of a funny taste. Switch the fittings on your RO unit so this comes before the taste filter then add an alkalizer filter at the very end for some great tasting water. Fixed my nasty tasting water that an RO alone would not.

A must have
I live in Westport WA, and we have had in the past arsenic warnings from our water dept. And of course we (the residents)are let to our own to deal with that issue.

I have had the Mighty Mite system for about a year now and I can taste the difference in the water with this system installed. I have added a DL filter as an extra precaution to the system to deal with the arsenic issue. I even use the M.M. to filter the dogs water.

If you are a prepper I advise you purchase the Mighty Mite system as it is portable.

Works good after testing it for about three Months
I waited three months to give a review on this Water Ionizer / Alkaline Water Machine. It works a lot like a family member's Tyent Rettin MMP-7070 Turbo (that they had to replaced after 3 weeks) but this NewCell 7 Plate is significantly less in cost and warrantee. Filters (that I don't need yet) cost less also. I don't pay much attention to the PH # and those things but no question I have now seen the machine "Greatly Reduce Two Life Long Problems" for a close family member that I wanted to help. They had stopped taking prevacid type pills, to test the thing, and they have not needed one pill since! Someone also has had a "life long" back problem reduced 90%. I love giving our water to others and most of them see a big difference. With others it is like; "you can lead them to water but you can't make them drink" (Ha). That in it's self settles it for me. Quality product at a good price
I have had this now for 7 months and it works great. I put it on the side of my cabinet next to the sink and it works great there. I have it supplied from a reverse osmosis filter to feed it and to give people just normal drinking water if they don't want to try the IONIZED water. My wife has diabetes and has noticed that her blood suger has been much better since drinking this. This is a great product.

Ok to begin with I have a BS in Medical Biotechnology, an AS in Biotechnology and I have taken a year of chemistry courses as well as organic chemistry. These "ionized water" systems are a scam! Honestly these companies are trying to rip you off!! I have put quite a bit of time into researching this information and some of the websites selling these products and they are all making bogus claims. First of all there is no need to drink alkaline water at all! And in addition, there is no such thing as a body ph. could be better
its a big cheap filter, and when you use it before reverse osmosis and after a water softener you will see a nice change in the water, while not having to change out reverse osmosis system filters as often

a side note, the wannabe sharkbite fittings on this thing are complete garbage, they break under pressure (so it could flood your house) but if you buy the right sharbite fittings (hydrologic's 1/2" line is the same as Sharkbite's 3/8" line) then youll be fine

3 months no worries
I was hoping to get this filter a little less than in the spa stores, but it's really worth the money. Since there is no maintenance to the filter, just adding a little chlorine or bromine, it makes life easy. I just needed to remind myself to change the filter every 3 months or so depending on the use. Also great on cutting down on the amount of chemicals needed!

Master de-chlorinator!
You can see a difference when you compare a glass with normal tap water and then water run through this filter. Also, after the water evaporates out of the glass, you can see a lot of sediment that is leftover in the glass that had tap water in it. This filter system is very durable and a must-buy for any person conscious about the water that they are consuming. I don't like the taste of other water after using this small boy.

Nice little filter
Very nice little filter. I live in an urban area and our water is pretty hard. This little guy has a noticeable effect on the chlorine level and our water tastes much better now. Also great for watering plants, doesn't kill beneficial organisms. Great value for the price.

Good product
Assuming that the filter cartridge works as advertised, I rate this a superior product (with caveats).

I have used other name brand faucet filters such as Culligan and PUR, and they were okay, but this one seems to have a more sturdy build, especially for the price. In addition, the flow rate is much better. With the others, it took over two minutes to fill a one-gallon jug; with this, about 35 seconds.

It also pivots out of the way with ease, whereas the others have an annoying friction, probably due to o-ring seals.

Yet, the CrystalQuest doesn't leak (after four months' use). It remains to be seen whether or not it will develop leaks; the others did after about a year of use. I suspect this one is less susceptible to leaks, due to its flow rate, which indicates much less back pressure.

Caveats: although the filter is highly rated, it does seem I get more of a chlorine taste than I did with my previous buys. And also, when I bought it, the...

good with sometimes weird taste
It was very easy to install and includes a quick switch between filtered water and regular tap water. Initially, the water tasted very much like chlorine or a chemical. They ask you to run it for 5 seconds each time you use it before using it. After a week or so either I got used to the weird taste or the weird taste mostly disappeared. However, we've now had it for a few weeks and someone in our household noticed that after filling a water bottle with water from the tap, when they reopened the full water bottle it smelled a little like chlorine. We will probably keep the filter for now, but eventually we will probably replace it with something else, even though the something else will probably have a lower number of gallons filter life.
Great filter, nice design
Gteat filter. Bought it in white. Installed in minutes. Comes with two faucet thread adapters. Tastes as good if not beter than water from my brita pitcher and much more conveinent. Removes many more contaminents that competing brands and filter is supposed to last six months.

Review update 2/27/2011: The on/off flow control valve broke off today so I am reducing my rating. Its a shame because it was a nice unit un till this.

Works well, Well Made in USA.
After countless hours looking at undersink RO units and becoming more confused than ever, I finally decided on this particular unit. I live on a farm in NW Indiana and our water source is well water.I ordered the TDS meter(under $20) along with this unit and tested the water before and after, even testing a $80 counter filter that was 4 years old or so. Well water was running at 400 on an EPA Max allowed number being 500(lower is better). The water coming out of the counter filter was 405, even slightly more than straight well water. After RO installation, water quality improved dramtically. TDS number is now 23 to 25.I can't tell any difference between our RO water and bottled water. We were buying 3 to 4 cases of bottled water about every time we went food shopping, so I expect this RO unit to pay for itself in a year or so. (Nobody likes lugging cases of water up a half flight of stairs all the time. In addition, less garbage to haul out too, helping the waste stream)...
