Water travels through multiple stages of filtration:
In stage 1, water flows through pre one - micron filter pads (1 micron equals 1/25,000th of an inch), which remove suspended particles such as silt, sediment, cyst (Giardia, Cryptosporidium), sand, rust, dirt, and other un-dissolved matter.
In stages 2 and 3, water flows through a bed of media made of a special high-purity alloy blend of two dissimilar metals - copper and zinc (Eagle Redox Alloy® 6500, and Eagle Redox Alloy® 9500.)
In stage 4, water flows through the ion exchange resin, reducing heavy metals such as lead, copper, aluminum, and water hardness.
In stage 5, water flows through granulated activated carbon (GAC).
In stage 6, water flows through another one-micron filtration pad for further reduction of undesirable particles. The end result is a great reduction or elimination of a wide variety of contaminants.

Water does not taste good
I haven't experienced any leaks and it was easy to install. There is also plenty of water pressure. That's the good. On the downside, the water doesn't really taste very good. The filter in our refrigerator does a better job in terms of taste. I'm going to put a different filter in the housing and see if that helps.

Poor Quality Control
I purchased a Crystal Quest single counter top filter direct from the company. It arrived promptly but the diverter valve was defective. I called and they said they would send me a new valve. The second one didn't work right. Leaked all over the place. Not only that I was charged for the replacement valve on my credit card, without authorizing it. At that point I decided I didn't want anything more to do with the company so I called them and told them I wanted to return the unit. They refunded my money, but they refused to pay the shipping $13.00 Why I should pay shipping for a defective item I really don't get. In addition, upon further research I found that water containing fluoride has to stay in contact with the filter media much longer than it does in this unit in order to do a really good job eliminating the fluoride. The three stage filter product may be better, but the best solution I could find was actually a combination of a reverse osmosis and carbon block filter system...
Great bargain
I bought one identical in appearance by Crystal Quest to this one. I got it because it takes out the fluoride in addition to all the other crap
now found in tap water. Fluoride is poisonous and amounts to forced medication by the powers that be. Why add this highly toxic chemical to our water? It is to
make the population docile and easy to control. People in other countries wonder why Americans are so easy to manipulate. Fluoride in the water, toothpaste,
bottled water, prescription drugs, is why. Fluoride was used in the concentration camps run by Germany during the early 1940's to keep prisoners
content even though they lived in Hellish conditions. After the war it began to be used here in the USA, to protect teeth!
I cannot be 100% certain that this model will remove fluoride. Check it out at their site: [...]
