Water travels through 7 stages of filtration.
First cartridge water flows through a 20" solid carbon cartridge for removing volatile organic carbon compounds (VOC's), insecticides, pesticides and industrial solvents.
Second cartridge water flows through a 6 stage filtration
In stage 1, Water flows through one - micron filter pads (1 micron equals 1/25,000th of an inch), which remove suspended particles such as silt, sediment, cyst (Giardia, Cryptosporidium), sand, rust, dirt, and other un-dissolved matter.
In stage 2, Water flows through coconut shell granulated activated carbon (GAC).
In stage 3, Water flows through the ion exchange resin, reducing heavy metals such as lead, copper, aluminum, and water hardness.
In stages 4 and 5, Water flows through a bed of media made of a special high-purity alloy blend of two dissimilar metals - copper and zinc ERA-6500®, and ERA-9500®.
In stage 6, Water flows through another one-micron filtration pad for further reduction of undesirable particles. The end result is a great reduction or the total elimination of a wide variety of contaminants.

AWESOME - Best Filter Around
This filter has dramatically changed the taste of our water from day 1. We have a private well which is untreated ground water. We run our water through a large and small particle sediment filter at the source/pump room. We also have the UV sanitizer after the main in the house. Previously we only had an additional small particle sediment filter in the home and we had problems with bad smelling ice from the in door ice maker of our fridge. The water also had a mild bitterness to the taste, it was tested and came back free of contaminants, but the taste was still there. We replaced our sediment filter with this Crystal Quest 7 stage whole house filter, and what an AMAZING distance. The ice cubes are crystal clear and free of any foul smell and taste, and the water from the tap has never been better! The filter system did not affect our water pressure, which was our only concern as it has a lower flow rate than many others out there, but again there is no change in our pressure,...

excellent for the cost!
We had a company come to our home and test our water, and try to sell us a 6 thousand dollar water filtration system. Upon doing some research, I decided that this one was worth a shot. From the first day we saw a HUGE difference! You can feel the difference on your hands, in the shower. My dishes and stainless steel sink have way less water spots than before, and the water from the tap tastes great. I highly recommend this system, excellent for such a low price! Also I called crystal quest, and the customer service was very helpful, and they even called back when they said they would!!
