Exactly what I needed
Upon seeing the picture it looked different from the original filter that came with install packet especially given the difference of price as to the one the manufacturers website was listing. Well i was wrong and i'm pretty satisfied of the end result: it fits, it has all the same information and my water tastes great again. Thank you, keep up the good work

DO NOT USE on Watts Premier WP systems.
This is review of "Non-Watts Premier Brand RO Membranes" like this one OR "Dow Filmtec Residential RO Membranes". While it should work as described, DO NOT USE on Watts Premier WP systems (i.e. WP-4V, WP-4, WP-5). The WP systems are the one-piece manifold systems from Watts Premier.

This does not have the built-in Check Valve or Brine Seal inside the white plastic tube of the RO Membrane. Without this Check Valve or Brine Seal, water from the reservoir tank (when full) will back flow to the RO membrane and damage it, and waste water.

This back flow or reverse flow will happen when your reservoir tank gets full. So basically, you will be wasting water as the water trickle will not stop. When I tested it, water continued to trickle out of the reject water outlet tube even when my reservoir tank is full already (it should stop when reserve tank is full). The water coming out is at a much slower rate though, but still plenty enough to raise your water bill since the...

RM-TFC
I wound up replacing every component of my RO system except the tubing and some of the connectors. The tank had a ruptured bladder and the automatic shutoff valve chattered...and it still does with the new one. It's possible that some minute rubber bladder bits got deposited into the new valve. I haven't been successful in clearing it yet. All this started when I replaced the RM-TFC. The water still doesn't taste as good as it did before I replaced the RM-TFM, but I'm not sure of the cause. I've been replacing the RM-TFM every two years and this is the first time I've experienced any trouble. It is a strange coincidence that the system disintegrated immediately after I replaced the RM-TFC.

Great!
I've used this model for two years, and my well water always tastes great. I use a 'whole house' filter and water softener first, and then have this one in my kitchen. It's a little pricy, but what else can you do if you want good tasting water. I'll continue to buy this.

best bang for the buck 100 GPD membrane
I rate the Filmtec 100 GPD membrane 5 stars over-all. Filmtec 100 GPD Delivers high volume high quality water in the 5-10 PPM output with a 257 PPM input with 80 PSI. Filmtec rates it at 90% which is standard I have a DI single stage added on the output for my reef water with a total quality of 0 PPM.

Keep in mind the higher the output (GPD) usually means lower quality water (Higher PPM) so if water quality is important and you do not want to run a DI stage you are better off with a lower GPM membrane. Also important is input pressure must be over 50 PSI also remember to change out your restrictor for best performance. I have a 100 GPD membrane on my reef water and 75GPD membrane in my kitchen and a 24 GPD for my master bathroom. Filmtec make in my opinion the best residential membrane for most aquariums hobbyists and personal consumption.

RO performance
Remember that any RO membrane must be operated at a ratio of 5:1 for best performance.
That means that the cross flow is 5 x the permeate flow per membrane.
If your membrane is permeating 100GPD (263ml/minute)then the correct restrictor would be 1500ml/minute) or a 15% recovery
you can however, increase your system recovery by adding membranes in series (up to 3)feeding the consecutive membrane with the concentrate of the previous and then placing the same 1500ml/minute restrictor at the tail end. The permeate would be trippled to 789, the concentrate would still be 1500ml/minute so the recovery would be 35%

Larger, industrial units operate at up to 80% recovery, emulating the 1:5 by recirculating part of the concentrate back to the inlet of the first membrane. This requires the incorporation of a pump, valves and flow meters in the circuit.

Feeding the RO softened water will allow the RO to be operated at less than 5:1, even as low as 3:1...
Not good for reef tanks..
Bought 2 RO filters to replace existing membrane for salt water reef tanks. Followed instructions to let run for 1 hr, could not get water better than 48 ppm we then ran for another hour, with no change. we then repeated the process with the backup filter purchased from the same company with the same result. We ended up putting the old membrane back into the filter producing 18 ppm.

we do not recommend this product for salt water reef tanks.

Excellent filter for the price
This filter is fairly cheap, and turns tap water into odor free, taste free wetness. I can't speak for the lab results claimed by the manufacturer, but it does a fantastic job when measured by the nose and taste buds. Even if you use an additional faucet filter for drinking water, this filter does the job for cooking water, wash water, and more.

Great affordable undersink water filter
I have been using this filter since when I bought my house in 2002, and judging by the sticker on it, the filter was installed by the previous owner around 1997. I found that the default GAC1 filter cartridge wasn't quite making the water drinkable due to high chlorine content in our area. So i upgraded the filter cartridge to Omni Corporation CB1-SS Carbon Block Undersink Replacement Cartridge. The great thing about these filters is that the cartridges are interchangeable. The CB1 cartridge does a much better job of getting rid of chlorine smell.

After 13 years, the plastic housing sprung a pin-hole leak at the very top, looks like where the filter mold was injected with the plastic, so I replaced the old filter with the improved new model. I checked out the big box home improvement stores, and their under-sink filters just didn't feel as solid as Omni and the replacement cartridges in most cases...
Excellent

I will order again. I would be surprised if I was not satisfied.

Works good.

Info on Pentek
I have used a Pentek standard 10 clear with no pressure release red button or valve in head for 13 years no trouble. However, because it lacks either of those two attributes it is simpler then many and therefore it is not possible to judge the performance or durability of more complex Penteks. Plus mine is in an unusually low stress situation. Low pressure, 3-4 gpm, no sunlight. All that aside, I only give it a 3 at best because of the enormous amount of difficulty in getting any information. Penteks site is barren, and none of the many retailers know anything either. Just wanted a backup plus maybe some improvement. Took forever just to get the relevent model # of unit without a pressure release, for instance. Wonder what the "3g" in this particular model stands for or how it differs from others? Welcome to the world of blank stares. Waste a day like I did. Not getting the volume claimed in the ad
I'm trying this out as a replacement for the Everpure filters, which only last 4-6 months (we never get 1000 gallons out of them). The installation is straight forward, and a bit easier since they're shorter than the Everpure H-1200. The water flavor is similar to what we got from Everpure, and I like the fact that it uses a solid carbon block for filtering. I'm hoping it will last longer (2,500 gallons?), and will try to update the review in about 8 months.

Update after 4-5 months - The flow is already down to a trickle. So, in terms of performance we haven't found this filter to be better than the Everpure H-1200. With four in our household, we might use 2 gallons/day of the filtered water. Also, according to our city water department's water reports the quality of our water is very good. So, we're pretty disappointed with the results.

Omnipure ELF-5M-P Carbon Filters
I ordered these for our business and am very satisfied with their performance. We have a heavily chlorinated water system being in a city and the filter removes any taste of that. Our whole company switched from bottled water to drinking right from the tap once we installed these filters in all the kitchens in our building. That saved us $400 a month in water!!
