2 Carbon, One RO Filter for the handy
Searching around I found this to be the best do-it-yourself kit around. Someplace on this page I read about people preferring the carbon filter as both the pre and post RO filter as they filter out more impurities and sediments. So I bought and installed this kit. As stated on the RO membrane filter, it is packed with anti-freeze and anti-microbe solution so once installed you must flush it. After following the instructions all of a sudden our water output JUMPED up, water went from a trickle to a stream even with tank empty. Although breaking in the membrane filter was a little hassle, it was worth it. And with our water I like the idea of the more expensive carbon pre-filter. FYI I paid for this 1/2 of what my local guy was charging for just the RO membrane filter part. I've ordered a second set! (You might also find that no one seems to be selling/making the fiber-wound pre-filters in this size anymore, just the same screen-type as the carbon filter without the carbon. I sure liked...

Warning - No sediment filter
This kit contains two identical carbon filters and the membrane. Unfortunately, my Culligan Reverse Osmosis System requires a sediment filter before the membrane and the sediment filter is not included in this kit. I had to buy a different kit from a different online store.
Very good quality product
I called Culligan to see what they would charge to come out and service the filter set in the house I just moved in to. The system was installed for some time and the past tenants were unclear how long it had been since the last filter change. Culligan told me it could go over $250 if I change both filters and the membrane, which was what I planned to have done!
Well, I know how to do basic DIY projects like this. I found these comparable substitutes at a great price comparitively speaking. They came in quickly. The membrane assembly actually seemed better quality and denser feeling than the Culligan one that was installed. Now I have clean drinking water for 75% less than having it serviced by the manufacturer of the unit.
